“Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: May they prosper who love you. May peace be within your walls, And prosperity within your palaces.” Psalm 122:6-7
Hear, oh Church, the Holy Spirit’s cry for you to pray for the peace of Jerusalem during this month of May 2018! As Rabbi and I are in the land of Israel during this month of May, we entreat you to pray for Israel. On May 14, 1948, David Ben Gurion declared the restoration of the Jewish State, Israel. On June 7, 1967, after the Six Day War, Israel captured the Old City of Jerusalem. Now, in 2018, as Israel celebrates 70 years of independence, the United States boldly proclaims that the US Embassy is moved from Tel Aviv into Jerusalem on May 14th, 2018. What exciting times of watching prophecy fulfilled!
Isaiah 66:8 states, “Can a land be born in one day? Can a nation be brought forth all at once?” The answer came forth for Israel as an emphatic, “Yes!” on May 14th, 1948! Church, “Be joyful with Jerusalem and rejoice for her, all you who love her; Be exceedingly glad with her, all you who mourn over her, that you may nurse and be satisfied with her comforting breasts, that you may suck and be delighted with her bountiful bosom.” Isaiah 66:10-11
The Gospel came to us through the Jewish people. Our Redeemer has promised to return to us as the Lion of Judah, setting up the New Jerusalem in the land claimed for Himself. Truly blessed are we who have been grafted into the Olive Tree of the Jewish people, to receive all the blessings of Abraham and his descendants, through Jesus, our Messiah and coming King!
Though we celebrate such an occasion of joy for Israel, Israel is in perilous times with enemies to their right and left, and hardly an ally to support and strengthen them against their enemies. With Arabs insisting that Jerusalem must be the capital of a future Palestinian state, and the Palestine Liberation Organization angered over the US moving their embassy to Jerusalem, protests and violence loom over the land of Israel.
Pray for the schemes of Satan against Israel to be thwarted, and for the LORD’s Angels to be released to earth for holding back their enemies until the time is right and all eyes have been opened to receive Jesus and His Eternal Life. Your prayers for the Jewish people to see and know their Messiah, will result in their eyes being opened and their praise to Yeshua (“Blessed be the Name of the LORD”), which will usher in Jesus’ return (Luke 13:35)!
Church, when you pray for Heaven to come down to Jerusalem and the LORD’s chosen people, you are advancing God’s Divine Plan for Yeshua’s return!
