Throughout Scriptures we read of certain women described as “beautiful,” which resulted in them being desired by men (eg. Sarah, Rebecca, and Esther). We, as women, can be left thinking thoughts of not being beautiful enough to be desired, and thus emotionally rejected like Leah, when reading these Scriptures. 1 Peter 3:3 tells us not to adorn ourselves to focus on outer beauty. So where does that leave us?
“Instead it should be that of your inner self, the unfolding beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight. For this is the way the holy women of the past who put their hope in God used to make themselves beautiful … You are Sarah’s daughters if you do what is right and do not give way to fear” 1 Peter 3:4-6. True, lasting beauty is found through an inner heart bent toward the LORD. As we reject the false, fleeting outer beauty of adornment for our identity, and seek
Father’s voice of adoration toward us, then we begin to flourish in the Spirit’s inner peace, love and
beauty. His joy and beauty shines forth from our physical body. You are beautiful today because you were created by the master Artist. Cry out for His beautiful love and Spirit to fill you today, to give you true peace and beauty. Let Father lead you in the care of your body and what to wear each day. God’s love, joy, peace and beauty in you will draw all men to the Father through you!
