YAHWEH M’KADDEESHCHEM: “The Lord Who Sanctifies, Makes Holy” The word Kaddosh means holy, to dedicate, set apart, sanctify. We find this name in Leviticus 20:8 “Keep my decrees and follow them. I am the LORD, who makes you holy.” God sets us apart to deliver us and bring us into the Holy Place. In the Old Testament laws and commands were to guide the Israelites towards holiness. Now we are sanctified through the blood of Jesus (Colossians 1:22). We cannot attain holiness of our own strength, so we have “Yahweh M’Kaddesh”, “The God Who Makes Holy”. What we cannot achieve, He is willing to do inside of us if we allow Him to! “Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you entirely; and may your spirit and soul and body be preserved complete, without blame at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.” 1Thessalonians 5:23
