My Heart To You

Share this:

Beloved, I wanted to share with you about something that those of you that have been watching me on television will soon notice. I have begun to grow what is referred to in Judaism as peyot or peyos. These are the long side locks that are commanded in the Torah, where the Lord tells the children of Israel to not trim the four corners of their beards (Leviticus 19:27, Leviticus 21:5).

I am growing the peyos because I want to, in my own heart, live out my Jewish calling. Deep inside me, there is just a yearning to be able to manifest what is within me in an external way. In the same way that I wear the prayer shawl and yarmulke (head cap) – it is for the same reason that I am growing the peyos. I want to clothe myself as a Jewish person because the world needs Jewish messengers of Yeshua.

Beloved, I believe that God wants to use me to push the envelope forward and to challenge the status quo with the fact that Jesus is a Jew. Even though I already wear the prayer shawl and yarmulke; I believe that growing the peyos pushes the envelope further; making people face the fact that here is this guy wearing peyos saying that Jesus is the Messiah. I know that it may offend some people. I know some people might even accuse me of being inauthentic because I am not an orthodox or a Hasidic Jew. But growing the peyos is not about being orthodox, Hasidic, or under the Law. And beloved, I want you to hear loud and clear that I am not, nor are any of you – under the Law.

Instead, I really want to be able to reflect what is in my inner person – in my outer person. Having the peyos marks me as not being part of the world. There are so many people in the world that don’t just need another friend, or a handshake – they need to hear the voice of God. I feel by wearing the peyos it helps to set myself apart as somebody that is unique on the earth. I am then able to speak hope and truth into people’s lives as someone that is not of the world, but as someone that is from another world – the world of God, the world of Hashem.

I want to assure you that my doctrine has not changed whatsoever, I will continue to preach the same gospel: Jesus is the only way to the Father. Beloved, I earnestly believe that God wants us to keep on going up the mountain to be changed from glory to glory, to keep on pressing the envelope to the next level for breakthrough!

Finally, I would like to say that I don’t know if this is just for a season or how long I will have the peyos, but at this point in my life – it is in my heart to do.

Speaking God’s best over your life!
