When we read about Yeshua walking on the water in John 6, it’s easy to think of it as a dramatic supernatural event set apart from our own experience. But Scripture reveals something much deeper—something that applies to our everyday life in a profound way.
Jesus’ disciples were in a storm. They had rowed for miles in the dark. The waves were strong, the wind relentless. And then they saw Him—walking on the water, drawing near. Understandably, they were afraid. But Yeshua called out, “It is I; do not be afraid.”
When they received Him into the boat, the storm ceased. And immediately, they reached their destination.
The message here isn’t just that Jesus has power over nature—it’s that He has power over every storm we face. And even more than that, He invites us to rise above those storms with Him.
How? By walking on water in the Spirit.
When we bring every thought captive to the obedience of Messiah—when we stop letting fear, anxiety, bitterness, or lust dominate our minds—we begin to live in a higher place. The storm may still rage around us, but in the Spirit, we are calm. We are secure. We are reigning in life through Yeshua.
The real battle isn’t out there—it’s within. It’s in our thought life. Every day, we are faced with choices: Will we dwell on fear, or choose trust? Will we act from anger, or extend forgiveness? Will we focus on self, or surrender to love?
This is what it means to walk on water. Not physically, but spiritually. To live above the pull of the flesh. To walk in the Spirit.
And this life isn’t reserved for the spiritual elite. It’s available to every child of God who will cling to Him in weakness and say, “Help me, Lord.”
That simple prayer can move mountains. When the disciples were sinking, they cried out, “Save us!” And Yeshua did.
You and I can overcome—not just by trying harder, but by depending 100% on Father. When we resist the thoughts that drag us down and continually lean into the Lord’s presence, we are being raised up in the Spirit.
This is our inheritance as believers. This is the power of resurrection life within us.
So don’t fear the storm. Don’t be discouraged if you feel weak. Your strength isn’t in yourself—it’s in your union with the One who walks on water. And as you fix your eyes on Him, you’ll find yourself doing the impossible, rising above the waves.
Beloved, you are more than a conqueror. Keep fighting the fight of faith. Keep bringing your thoughts under Yeshua’s authority. And you’ll discover a life of peace, love, and supernatural joy—where every step you take is a step of victory on water.
