But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit.
—2 Corinthians 3:18
If we want to know God and walk in unity with Him, we have to clothe ourselves in His nature. This means we must control the desires of the flesh and instead take on the substance and attributes of God.
We must have kavanah, or intention, to restrict the inclinations of our carnal nature and adorn ourselves with humility, gentleness, love, peace, patience, goodness, self-control, and the other traits of the Spirit. The more we harness the flesh, the more we will be able to abide in the Spirit. Of course, it takes effort, strength, and kavanah to hold back our natural impulses. But if you will engage in warfare by constraining your flesh and choosing the higher ways of the Father, you will ascend in the power of the Spirit and enter into a relationship with God that is beyond anything you have ever known!
Beloved one, the more we restrain our flesh and clothe ourselves with the Spirit, the more like Jesus we will become. This requires discipline and a dying to self, but in the end we will be transformed into Yeshua’s likeness. That prize is worth the sacrifice. Messiah said, “He who has found his life will lose it, and he who has lost his life for My sake will find it.”
