The Bible clearly says we are in a fight that is invisible. But how many of us are still fighting against people and the things that we see? We’re always mad at somebody—at our employer, at a colleague, at someone on our social media feed. But those people and situations are not the real problem. The real problem is how we are viewing our circumstances and how we are thinking about the obstacles we face.

Beloved, 99 percent of our battles are not flesh-and-blood struggles; they are battles in the realm of the mind. You see, thoughts are manifestations of spiritual activity, which is why we need to engage in spiritual warfare in the realm of our thought life.

Too many of us are allowing anything to captivate our thinking. We allow ourselves to dwell on what- ever goes through our minds, not realizing that some of the thoughts we think and agree with actually have a satanic origin. You need to become aware of what you are thinking and understand that you have the power to reject and break agreement with thoughts that are not of God. That may mean speaking to your thoughts audibly and saying, “I reject you, Satan. Get out of my head!”

For so many years I accepted whatever thought came into my head, not realizing I had the power to fight it. I would cry out to God for help, but I didn’t realize that I had the power to reject the thought and to focus on something different.

God has given you the tools to fight. Practice being aware of your thoughts, and forcefully reject anything that is not of the Lord. As you do, you will find yourself entering into greater and greater levels of shalom.

Father God, I ask that You give me a supernatural awareness of my thoughts. Help me to think on “whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute,” as Philippians 4:8 admonishes. Father, help me to take captive any thought that is not in line with

Your truth so I can experience peace and joy.
