In anticipation of Resurrection Sunday, my 3 year old granddaughter said to me, “Mimi! God’s going to die soon!” She had learned about Yeshua’s crucifixion, but she had not yet grasped that this had already taken place. In hopes of helping her understand, I said, “You know how we celebrate your birthday every year? Although you were born as a baby a long time ago we are so happy about you coming into our lives that we keep celebrating you every year on your birthday. It’s the same as what we do for ‘Resurrection Sunday’ – every year we celebrate that Jesus died for us and then came back alive and lives forever with us!”
What a great gift God has given us when He instructed us (Deuteronomy 16:1, 9-10, 13, 16-17) to annually celebrate the holy days (holidays). As I watch how excited my granddaughter is when she anticipates and celebrates birthdays and holidays, I know that this is how the LORD wants us, as His children, to experience His holidays with Him. Sometimes we too, like my granddaughter, need Father God to correct our view and understanding of His Holy days. God’s laws and commandments have often been misconstrued as demands from an angry taskmaster, but the reality is that God cares for us so deeply that He continually releases to us great ways of finding life in a world that operates apart from Him with a trajectory of death. His laws and Holy days bless us, keep us and glorify God!
This month ask Father God to release new revelation about His Holy day of Shavuot (Pentecost) and what it means for you. Discover that in Messiah Yeshua you live not under the law, but rather are blessed by its spiritual applications that guide and direct your steps. Father’s love streams down to you today as you receive the same revelatory Holy Spirit that was breathed into the first Disciples and Church in the upper room on Pentecost!
