It is good to give thanks to the LORD,
to sing praises to your name, O Most High;
to declare your steadfast love in the morning,
and your faithfulness by night. Psalm 92:1-2
According to an online Mayo Clinic Health System article (Tuesday, December 6, 2022), “Expressing gratitude is associated with a host of mental and physical benefits. Studies have shown that feeling thankful can improve sleep, mood, and immunity. Gratitude can decrease depression, anxiety, difficulties with chronic pain and risk of disease. If a pill that could do this, everyone would be taking it. Your brain is designed to problem-solve rather than appreciate. You often must override this design to reap the benefits of gratitude.”
The Holy Scriptures, when practiced, guide us into right ways of the LORD that produce life more abundant. This month let’s transform the quality of our lives, and the lives of those around us, by focusing on His word of instruction to give thanks. I beseech you to really make a focus of retraining your brain by looking for and proclaiming the things that you are thankful for this month. Our forefathers, in the USA, felt it was so important that, we have the holiday of Thanksgiving; and most importantly we find, in Leviticus 23, the Feast of Tabernacles as the LORD’s holiday of thanksgiving.
Let’s awaken each day with 5 minutes to look for something that is good in our personal lives, and then journal this unto the LORD with thankfulness. As you launch into your day, look for at least 1-2 persons who blessed you in any small or big way. Take a moment to thank and appreciate them. And finally at the end of your day, before turning off the light to go to sleep, think upon your day to revel over 1-2 things you were thankful to the LORD for, and write them down in your “Thankful Journal.” Let’s be the one who returns to the LORD to thank Him (Luke 17:11-19). Your month-long actions of thankfulness and thanksgiving will change your life mentally, physically, and socially. You’ll positively impact those around you, but most of all, you’ll bring your Father such joy and experience His abounding love.
