Early on in my walk as a Spirit-filled follower of Messiah, the Holy Spirit placed within me a desire to be the best follower of Yeshua, the best wife, the best pastor’s wife, and the best mother. As I read Proverbs 31:10-30, I said, “That’s it, LORD, that’s what I want!” Proverbs 31 gave me an image of an incredibly powerful and virtuous woman. I laughed and said, “Oh God, I crave to be such a woman, but how far off I am from such a person. Help me!”
This desire He placed within me has never left me, but after weathering through all the storms of life, while clinging and pursuing our Father, He has given me a new lens to read and understand His Word. Within the Bible we see men and women who are pillars of the faith and known for their great valor, but none of them lived perfect lives. What they each learned through their struggles and failures is to place themselves in a subservient, dependent posture before the LORD. The Holy Spirit spoke to me 3 words that summed up how biblical men and women pursued righteousness and became valiant. He spoke into me, “Depend, trust and obey.” In proclaiming, “Not my will, LORD, but Yours be done,” we place Father at the wheel. Trusting in our supernatural, all-knowing, all-powerful LORD and Savior, we lean not on our own understanding, but trust God to accomplish His almighty and great plans for our life. And as we settle our heart and mind in Abba (Father’s) love we hear and obediently follow the Holy Spirit’s lead to complete His valiant plans for our lives. Beloved, in every situation, depend, trust and obey –it’s your prescription for life!
“Commit your way to the Lord, trust also in Him, and He will do it. He will bring out your righteousness as the light …” Psalm 37:5-6a
