“For Zion’s sake I will not keep silent, and for Jerusalem’s sake I will not keep quiet, until her righteousness goes forth like brightness, and her salvation like a torch that is burning.”
— Isaiah 62:1
Tied up in God’s climactic plan of redemption is the salvation of the Jewish people. That’s really what Isaiah was speaking of in Isaiah 62:1. He was saying, “I’m not going to keep silent until salvation fully comes to Israel.” Because the salvation of the Jewish people is so close to the heart of God, it should be close to ours as well.
Paul said he magnified his ministry to the Gentiles because through the Gentiles the Jewish people would be saved. (See Romans 11:11–14.) God is counting on the church to pray for the salvation of the Jewish people. I am thankful that our ministry is seeing Jewish salvations in Jerusalem. But there is more to be done.
When the church sends out missionaries to the nations of the world, too often the Jewish people are neglected. This should not be. The church needs to focus on the salvation of Jewish people.
Fortunately I have noticed a shift taking place as Yeshua prepares the earth for His return. People in the church are starting to realize that Jesus’ return is tied up with the salvation of the Jewish people, and because of that, laborers are being sent into the harvest field in Israel. In fact Discovering the Jewish Jesus is broadcasting into almost every home with a television set in Israel on multiple channels, and we are sharing the good news of Messiah Yeshua with God’s people in the Holy Land. But this is just the small beginnings of what the Holy Spirit wants to do.
Beloved, I encourage you to get in agreement with God. Let’s go “to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile,” just as the Scriptures teach. (See Romans 1:15–17; 2:9–10.)
Father God, I pray now that the Jewish people will be awakened to the truth that Jesus is the promised Messiah. I pray, Lord, that the eyes of their understanding would be enlightened and that they would come to know the depth of Your love for them and embrace You as their Savior and Messiah.
