Consider that Yeshua’s last supper with His disciples was a Passover meal. And at that time, He said, “This is My body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of Me.’ And in the same way He took the cup after they had eaten, saying, ‘This cup which is poured out for you is the new covenant in My blood’” (Luke 22:19, 20).
When John, a Jewish prophet, referred to Yeshua as “the Lamb of God,” He was pointing back to the first Passover that took place in Egypt. On that God appointed day, the firstborn of every Egyptian suddenly died. But the firstborn of each Israelite household was miraculously delivered from death through the blood of a lamb that was applied to their doorposts.
The fact that Yeshua was crucified on Passover points to the fulfillment of the historic redemptive miracle that occurred in ancient Egypt.
At that first Passover, Israel first collected the blood of the lambs in basins but beloved, it was not enough for ancient Israel to merely collect the blood of lambs in basins. No, they had to personally and intentionally put it on the doorposts of their homes. In the same way, it is not sufficient to simply know that Messiah shed His blood and died for our sins. Instead, each of us must make the decision to personally receive Him into our hearts and follow Him. It is in this way that we apply His blood to our lives.
Passover Today
Be assured that, although Yeshua died over 2,000 years ago on that consecrated and holy Passover day, His blood is still alive at this very moment. The blood of the Lamb of God is active. Yeshua’s blood still brings deliverance from death and sin to everyone who commits their life to Him.
We read in the last book of our Bible –
“And they overcame him (Satan) because of the blood of the Lamb” (Revelation 12:11).
Christ’s fulfillment of Passover is for us today, tomorrow, and forever. Yeshua’s shed blood has timeless impact and eternal consequence. Where would we be, and what hope would we have, without Him?
Let us all thank the Father for His Son each day with everything that is in us.
“Bless the LORD, O my soul, And all that is within me, bless His holy name…Who pardons all your iniquities” (Psalm 103: 1 & 3a).
“For Christ our Passover also has been sacrificed.” 1 Corinthians 5:7
Passover is one of the three Pilgrim Feasts designated by God (Deuteronomy 16:16) for all Israel to come to Jerusalem and present a special offering unto Him. Over the years, we have found that many of the Father’s children feel inspired to present a sacrificial Passover offering during this holy season through Discovering the Jewish Jesus. If God is leading you to give, please return your special Passover offering in the postage-paid envelope provided. Thank you.
