“Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. Acknowledge Him in all your ways, and He will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3:5,6
Recently I awoke from an intense dream feeling heavy. In the dream I encountered a very frightening attacker who had caused harm to others and who threatened me as well. I saw in his face that he was terribly wounded with emotional and spiritual pain, and desperately in need of love. Suddenly I found myself with others who also felt compassion for this very broken attacker. We were rushing around trying to hide evidence that could convict the man of a criminal offense. I awakened from my dream sickened that I had been participating in a cover-up of crime. I called on the LORD for cleansing and revelation. The Holy Spirit revealed that although I and others were seeking to make things better, we were responding out of our emotions and self-will, which resulted in a convoluted mess of more sin and guilt. Torn by compassion for the offender and yet also feeling terrible for the victim, Father God spoke to me that He has all concerns in mind, and that HE alone has the way through these dark situations. So many times we find our emotions propelling us in our thoughts and actions. We try to fix horrible, painful situations without consulting and following the LORD. Even within our own families we can become overwhelmed with our emotions and as a result try to fix problems in the flesh. This can make matters even worse. Let’s instead look up, pray and release the situation at the Cross. Receive Jesus’ forgiveness for running in fleshly compulsions, and look to the LORD. His way requires you to let go of the wheel, trust and humbly do what He says.
LORD, strengthen me to follow You, trusting that YOU will transform all into Your goodness and Glory as I look up and follow Your lead!
