Keep Seeking

“You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.”
— Jeremiah 29:13

When people think of seeking God, they often think finding Him is going to be some kind of dramatic “wow” moment. In my experience, finding God isn’t just a one-time event; it is progressive. It takes many, many years. The Bible says even Jesus grew in stature before both God and man. I have found that it takes a lot of work, a lot of effort, a lot of perseverance, and a lot of pressing on to get ahold of God.

But Jeremiah 29:13 tells us that if we seek Him, we will find Him, so don’t lose heart. Keep on pressing in. As you spend time with God each day, you are being changed. And you are finding Him. You may not realize it because the process happens slowly, but if you look back on your life, you’ll see that you have more peace today than you used to have. You have more clarity of mind. You go through life with more victory. Why? You are slowly finding God.

The apostle Paul said this: “Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me. Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus” (Phil. 3:12–14, NKJV). Paul had been pursuing God for years, and yet he did not count himself to have fully apprehended, and he was still pressing toward the mark.

Laying hold of that for which Christ laid hold of you is not just a quick eureka moment. It is a life of ascending up the mountain in pursuit of God. But there is glory awaiting you that is far beyond what you can imagine. So keep on pressing in and don’t stop until you’ve laid hold of Him completely.

Father God, I thank You that if I seek You, I will find You. Help me to persevere in prayer, in worship, in giving, in fellowshipping with other believers, in studying Your Word, and in obedience so that I will continue to grow in my relationship with You. I believe, Father, that as I seek You, I am becoming more like You day by day.
