In Spirit and Truth

“But an hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for such people the Father seeks to be His worshipers.”
—John 4:23

Jesus said, “When I am raised to life again, you will know that I am in my Father, and you are in Me, and I am in you.” (See John 14:20.) Yeshua’s use of the word know indicates that this relationship is something that is to be intimately experienced and felt.

Our faith rests not just in spirit and not just in truth, but in the combination of the two. The point I want to make is that we should not limit our relationship with God by focusing only on having correct doctrine. We also need to spiritually experience God. Simply put, Father has blessed us to be able to sense Him.

What would you think of marriage if the relationship with your spouse had no feeling? Relationships involve feelings, and feelings make us alive! I am not saying we are to be led only by our feelings. But those who never feel, sense, or experience anything intuitively in their relationship with God are missing something.

I want to know Yeshua in me and around me. I want to sense His glory and experience His love, peace, joy, and power. All these things require an experience. They cannot just be in the mind; they have to be sensed in our hearts and spirits. Yeshua sent His Spirit to continue to reveal Himself to us (John 16:13–14). In other words, Jesus said: “I am going to send you the Spirit, and the Spirit will make Me real to you. The Spirit will take of Me—My very nature, My very thoughts, My very heart, My very feelings—and He will impart them to you.”

As believers, our primary goal is to come into a greater realization of God’s Spirit and presence in our lives—to know not only the truths of His Word but to also know His presence in reality. Beloved, we can truly experience God and His Son—in spirit and in truth. Believe it!

Father God, I am excited to experience Your presence. I want to feel Your Spirit and sense Your activity in my life. I want to know You in both spirit and in truth, both with my head and my heart. I pray today for a fresh anointing and touch from You, in Yeshua’s name.
