I Do Nothing on My Own

Share this:

“When you lift up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am He, and I do nothing on My own initiative, but I speak these things as the Father taught Me.” John 8:28

Jesus did not live by His own initiatives. He was not controlled by His own impulses. In fact, Yeshua refused to be persuaded by the world’s standards, or submit to the pressures of family or friends.

“I do nothing on My own.”

Beloved, how often are we doing something because we are being moved by our own impulses – instead of under the direction and inspiration of the Father? How often do we make decisions with no thought of His will? Not even considering His council.

“Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, unless it is something He sees the Father doing; for whatever the Father does, these things the Son also does in like manner.” John 5:19

The truth is that many of us are living too often through our own impulses. Many times, we are busy, distracted, and often seeking our will instead of His. Friend, we need to learn how to discern and resist our own fleshly urges, which are from the natural realm; so that we can restrict ourselves and overcome the darkness that bombards us 24/7.

Walking in a way that is spiritually mature is being able to train ourselves to continually recognize the difference between our earthly impulses and those coming from the Spirit. As we practice identifying our soulish appetites and then intentionally replace them with the Holy Spirit’s truths, light, and guidance — we will ascend out of darkness into His glorious light!

“But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.”  John 14:26

We must awaken to the Holy Spirit’s presence in our lives and be looking to Him for direction every moment.

Jesus is the ultimate mentor and should be the goal of every believer. Jesus lived only by the impulse and the initiation of the Father.  As we follow His example,  we actually become one of His disciples. Which means that we are being transformed, day by day, into His image!.

Yeshua had the confidence that the one that sent Him was with Him. “He who sent Me is with Me.” John 8:29

We share in this same confidence.

Beloved, God’s love, kindness, and power are towards us. His smile, His affection, His goodness, and His favor are upon us. God wants you and I to gain the confidence to know that He is for us and with us. Father will never leave us, nor forsake us.

“I will never leave you nor forsake you.” Hebrews 13:5/NKJ
