…who crowns you with lovingkindness and compassion.
—Psalm 103:4
God’s compassion toward us is boundless. Through Jesus, HaShem is able to sympathize with our weaknesses, and He desires to help us overcome our insecurities, fears, and doubts. This is something to be thankful for. God does not have to be compassionate and merciful. He could have responded to our sinfulness by wiping out mankind as He did during Noah’s day. But instead He has chosen, through the blood of Yeshua, to extend His love to us wholeheartedly.
Because of God’s deep compassion for us, we can tell Him anything, including our struggles. We can open our lives to Him, knowing His response is always going to be filled with love. This doesn’t mean He won’t discipline us when necessary. He will. But we can be sure He is going to help us, as Yeshua did when He walked the earth: “Seeing the people, He felt compassion for them, because they were distressed and dispirited like sheep without a shepherd.”
I love what David said in Psalm 103: “Just as a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear Him. For…He is mindful that we are but dust.” We must humble ourselves to receive God’s compassion. Some of us are being harder on ourselves than He is toward us.
Beloved one, Father God adores you. He is full of compassion for you. Open your heart to Him.
