Beloved, Father God will bring us through a wilderness experience to reveal our hearts to us in order to do something supernatural in our lives and to elevate us to the next level.
“But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit.” 2 Corinthians 3:18
Have you ever faced something in your life that you never faced before? Come into a challenge in your life that was a brand new test? You were feeling pretty good before you entered the “wilderness.” You were feeling confident in your walk with God before it hit you. But then, when you entered into the trial, you realized that your heart was not as pure and full of faith as you thought. You noticed that you were failing the test in some sense, not that you were failing completely, but that you were just not walking through it as perfectly as your heart wanted to. A bad attitude, toxic stress, anxiety, or fear entered in. You sometimes reacted to the people in your life with less patience. So, what do we do? We call out to Father God: “Help me get my attitude right. Help me to get my heart in order. Help me to walk in love.” And what does He do? Father girds us and transforms us, as He elevates us up to the next level.
This is what was happening with ancient Israel. Father God was transforming them in the wilderness. And He does the same thing with us as we go through our wilderness experience(s); as we cling to Father God, cry out to Him and become totally dependent on Him!
“He humbled you and let you be hungry, and fed you with manna which you did not know, nor did your fathers know, that He might make you understand that man does not live by bread alone, but man lives by everything that proceeds out of the mouth of the LORD.”
Deuteronomy 8:3
When you and I go through a wilderness experience, we find our provision supernaturally, in God, in ways that we often cannot and do not, when things are going easy for us. It was only when Israel was in the wilderness that manna appeared on the ground six days a week and water supernaturally came out of a rock. So, beloved, Don’t Waste Your Wilderness!
If you are in the midst of a wilderness experience right now, guard your heart against being bitter. Guard yourself against complaining. Do not let the devil steal your joy, even though it is a hard time. But, in the midst of your wilderness, thank God and worship Him.
“And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.” Romans 8:28
