And the earth was formless and desolate emptiness … God separated the light from the darkness … Let the waters below the heavens be gathered into one place and let the dry land appear … Let the earth sprout vegetation … Let the waters teem with swarms of living creatures … Let Us make mankind in Our image, according to Our likeness; and let them rule … and behold, it was very good. Genesis 1:2-31

As I began the year of 2026 reading the book of Genesis, the Holy Spirit imparted a fresh perspective and gave me a spiritual tune up. I read how the earth was formless, desolate, empty and chaotic. Yet the LORD looked at this void and created order, design, beauty, and relationships. Genesis goes on to say that we are created in His image and according to His likeness. Because we are created in His likeness we are anointed and empowered to create order, design, beauty, and love relationships – just like He does.

Our Creator’s intention is for us to “rule” in this world, just as He rules. He has given us each the spark of creativity and anointed us to impart divine order and life wherever we are. Though days can sometimes feel chaotic, without purpose, or mundane, Father calls for us to shift our perspective in order to impact our environment. Each morning, as we awake and shake off the dust of night drowsiness, let’s shift to see ourselves empowered by our Creator to bring His order, love, mercy and glory into the environment wherever we go.
