Be a Priest of God

“And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.””
— Mark 16:15

The mandate to go out and reproduce is for every Christian. It is not an assignment reserved for a specific group of people. All believers are called to lead people to faith, and once a person comes to know Jesus, that individual has a responsibility to lead others to Him. This is how the church will go into the world and preach the gospel to all creation.

Accepting the mandate to share your faith is going to separate you from some people, but that is what it means to be holy—to be separate and unique. God has called those who follow Him a peculiar people, a chosen race, a royal priesthood (1 Pet. 2:9). I want you to particularly focus on Peter’s admonition that we are a royal priesthood.

In the Old Testament a priest did three primary things: draw near to God, offer sacrifices to the Lord, and impart the grace to the people. People living apart from Jesus need us to take this mandate seriously and be a priest of God. The world needs us to draw near to God for ourselves, offer Him the sacrifice of our own bodies, and then minister the things of the kingdom to others. God is pleased when we do this, for we are working on His behalf.

Father, I accept my responsibility to be a priest of God. Show me how I can share my faith with those around me so Your Word will spread and everyone will hear it.
