An Eternal Weight of Glory

Share this:

Have you ever wondered why God allowed Adam and Eve to fall in the first place? Couldn’t He have stopped it? Think about that, the pain and difficulties we experience, entered the world because of their disobedience. We may wonder, if God really cares so deeply, why didn’t He prevent Adam and Eve from sinning? If He knew it was going to happen, why didn’t He prevent it by creating things in a way that would have kept them from falling. Because my brothers and sisters – spiritual growth and maturity come as we overcome difficulties in our lives. This is part of God’s plan. God ordained that we become strong and conformed to the image of His Son by overcoming. Seven times in the book of Revelation chapters 2 and 3, Yeshua says that the one who overcomes will be blessed.

“He who overcomes, I will grant to him to sit down with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne” (Revelation 3:21).

Every trial, hardship, difficulty and temptation we overcome, ultimately brings us into a more intimate connection to God and ultimately propels us deeper into His glory.

Overcoming Propels Us Deeper
We must not confuse our temporary reality – which often includes discomfort, struggle, and heartache, with the eternal reality that God intimately loves us and is working out a divine and glorious purpose in our lives. Our present challenges are often the starting point for developing a deeper understanding of who God is. Our obstacles are, in fact, a gift.

God’s Faithfulness
During every trial we must always remain confident that we are safe and secure in Him. God will never place us in a situation we cannot handle with His help, mercy, and grace.

“For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
  Romans 8: 38, 39

How Will We Respond
The Father is looking for our response. He is counting on us. If everything were automatic and required no choice, we would be nothing more than robots. Love would not be real.

God is waiting for us to open our hearts wider to Him, to trust Him more. And as we do, He imparts all the love, acceptance and power we need to overcome and enter into His fullness.

We need to understand that we are going to feel confused, fearful and hopeless at times. But it should always lead us to openly bring those feelings to the Father. He meets us there, we rise up and the Spirit of the Lord fills us as we live in His power and presence.

“For our momentary, light affliction is producing for us an eternal weight of glory far beyond all comparison.” 2 Corinthians 4:17
