Who Do You Say Jesus Is?

Share this:

Beloved, there is no more important question that we must be prepared to answer than:

Who Do You Say at I Am? (Matthew 16:15)

Few doubt whether Jesus lived. Most agree that He was, minimally, a historical figure. In fact, if you go to Israel today, you will see all the evidence that archaeologists have uncovered regarding Jesus and the fact that He lived.

But: Is He a liar, a lunatic, or the Lord? (C. S. Lewis, Mere Christianity)

Some consider Jesus a liar, meaning He told people things that were not true about Himself. Beloved, for this to be fact, we would have to conclude that all the Old Testament prophecies that He fulfilled were false, and that all the writers of the New Testament were duped.

“For we did not follow cleverly devised tales when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of His majesty.” 2 Peter 1:16

Could He have been a lunatic? In other words, did He think He was somebody that He was not? Did He have delusions of grandeur? Did He imagine Himself to be the Messiah because He was out of His mind? Again, overwhelming evidence proves otherwise. e greatest of which are the numerous eyewitnesses to His resurrection.

“According to the historical record, a er Jesus’ death and burial, He appeared alive to more than 500 people.” (facstandfaith.com – 1st Corinthians 15:6)

The only sound conclusion is that He was who He said He was, and is who He said He is – Lord, Messiah and Savior.

“And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved.” Acts 4:12

There are no other options. If someone says that He is just a good man and role model – he/she is deceiving themselves. When people deny that Jesus is the only way to the Father, and believe that being a good person is the only requirement for eternal life – they have convinced themselves of a lie. When someone thinks that He was only a prophet, so they do not have to obey Him – they have separated themselves from the promises of Father God. Anyone that believes that Jesus did not really die for their sins – regrettably, is jeopardizing their soul.

“I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.” John 14:6

Beloved, we need to be prepared to defend who Jesus is to those that have not embraced Him as their Savior. Time is short, be encouraged to go through the Bible Study below, so that you are ready to answer the question: Who do you say Jesus is?
