“You are from God, little children, and have over- come them; because greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world.”
— 1 John 4:4
It has been almost forty years since Jesus revealed Himself to me. At that time in my life, I was on the verge of being snuffed out by the enemy. I can’t even imagine what would have happened if Jesus hadn’t come to me and delivered me.
Not long after I accepted Yeshua as Messiah, I started reading the Word of God and I read 1 John 4:4. The idea that I had overcome the world was revolutionary. It changed my life and empowered me. It saved me from looking down and feeling defeated to looking up and ascending in power into victory.
Obviously this was a process. I had to fight through opposition, and so will you. But no matter how difficult the fight, because you are in Jesus, you are an overcomer, and you are on the road to progressive victory. You are going from strength to strength, from grace to grace, from faith to faith, and from glory to glory. Greater is He who is in you, beloved, than he who is in the world.
Stop looking to the world to affirm you. The world is a hostile place. The Scriptures say the world lies in darkness. Your victory is not going to come from people affirming you. Your victory comes when you get in touch with the fact that the One who has overcome lives inside you, and because you are born again, you are a victor in Him.
Father God, thank You for giving me victory by Your Spirit. Help me to look to You and seek the applause of heaven over the applause of men. Help me look to You for victory in all my circumstances and remember that I am an overcomer in You.
