“My son, give attention to my words; incline your ear to my sayings. Do not let them depart from your sight; keep them in the midst of your heart. For they are life to those who find them and health to all their body.”
— Proverbs 4:20–22
When we receive God’s wisdom, when we receive His words, whether they’re spoken through the pages of Scripture or to our hearts through the Holy Spirit, we need to treasure that word and cling to it. This is why I believe it is important that we write down the revelation we receive. When God begins to speak to me about a certain thing, I will write it down because I find that if I don’t write it down, if I don’t cling to it, if I don’t treasure it in my heart, I have a tendency to forget about it.
That is just human nature. Life goes on, and we begin to think about other things. So when you receive the word of God, and it really strikes you, I believe it is important that you write it down. Then go back every so often and review the truths God has revealed to you. By doing this, you will be able to move forward in the truth He is imparting to you more fully and effectively.
Beloved, don’t let the Word of God roll off your back. Take hold of it.
Father God, I treasure Your Word. I hide it in my heart that I might not sin against You. Bring to my remembrance the things You have spoken, whether through Scripture or through Your Spirit. Let Your Word lead me into a deeper revelation of who You are, how much You love me, and my role in shining the light of truth in a lost and dying world.
