“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.”
— John 10:10
Jesus said He came that we may have life and have it abundantly. But what does that mean? What is abundant life, and what does Jesus have for us?
Abundant life encompasses many things, but when I think of abundant life, I think of peace, satisfaction, love, power, authority, more than enough, and having dominion in life. Jesus wants all these things for us, but we have to storm the gates of heaven to partake of and enter into them.
Just as Israel had to drive out the Amorites, the Hittites, and the Jebusites from the Promised Land before they could take possession of it, so too do we have to drive the enemies out of our paths to enter into the fullness of what God has for us.
This means we have to come against fear. We have to come against worry. We have to come against pride. We have to come against accusation. We have to stand up to these things, come against them, and keep affirming God’s truth and His Word. And when we do, we are going to find ourselves experiencing more and more freedom and more and more of the abundant life Jesus came to give.
This is a reality. Abundant life can be ours, but we have to take it. We have to storm the gates of heaven.
Father God, I thank You for the victory I have in You. Help me to resist the enemy’s attempts to rob me of the abundant life You died for me to have. Father God, in the name of Jesus I come against every demonic power that seeks to keep me in bondage to fear, anxiety, worry, depression, anger, pride, lust, or anything else contrary to Your purpose for me. In Yeshua’s name help me to walk in the fullness of what You have for me.
