“When He approached Jerusalem, He saw the city and wept over it, saying, “If you had known in this day, even you, the things which make for peace! But now they have been hidden from your eyes. For the days will come upon you when your enemies will throw up a barricade against you, and surround you and hem you in on every side, and they will level you to the ground and your children within you, and they will not leave in you one stone upon another, because you did not recognize the time of your visitation.””

No matter their religious background, tourists in Jerusalem often visit the Western Wall, which is the retaining wall that held up the Temple Mount.

In Luke 19, when Jesus approached Jerusalem, He wept over the city and prophesied the words in verses 41–44. Yeshua foretold the destruction of the temple, and today all that is left is the retaining wall. The point is that approximately forty years after Yeshua prophesied the destruction of the second temple, His words came to pass when the Romans came in and destroyed the temple in AD 70. We need to take Yeshua’s words seriously. Every prophecy Jesus spoke has either been fulfilled or will be fulfilled. Let’s continue to stake our faith on the Word of God. It never returns void.

Stop and consider how much things have changed in the world today. Think about how different the moral standards were when you were younger as opposed to what is morally acceptable today. The point is everything around us is changing, and we have to make a decision as to whether we will yield to the ever-changing spirit of the age or we will stake and root our souls in the unchanging Word of God.

Father God, Your Word is living and active; it is sharper than any two-edged sword, dividing even soul from spirit and joint from marrow and judging the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Father, Your Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path. I trust Your Word and stake my faith on its truth. I know all of its promises are yes in Messiah Jesus and amen, and it will never return void. Your Word is life, and I declare that every word You have spoken over my life will be fulfilled.
