Satisfied in Him

“Now on the last day, the great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, ‘From his innermost being will flow rivers of living water.’”
—John 7:37–38

You’ve probably heard the saying that what we all have in common is death and taxes. That may be true, but at a deeper level, what all humanity shares in common is a desire to be fulfilled, complete, and happy. In John 4:14, Yeshua said, “Whoever drinks of the water that I will give him shall never thirst; but the water that I will give him will become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life.” Rivers of living water will eventually cause our souls to become so satisfied in HaShem that we will lose our interest in anything else. We will not be attracted by anything the world has to offer because we will find the deepest possible satisfaction in the One who created us for Himself.

So if you’re thirsty, Jesus is inviting you to come and drink. How do we do that? We talk to Him. We share with Him the truest parts and deepest longings of our souls. We tell Him the things that are hurting us, the things that make us sad, the things that make us angry, and the things that confuse us. We get honest with Him, opening our souls to Him so there are no secrets.

Yeshua defined eternal life in John 17:3 as knowing God. In other words, the satisfaction from the living waters is realized through relationship. To know God as our Father, a real person, and to know how much He loves us and who we are to Him fulfills the deepest longings and needs of our souls.

Beloved, the Father wants to be one with you. Yeshua said, “I and the Father are one,” and He prayed that you and I would experience this same oneness (John 17). By being open and honest with God, baring our souls to Him every day and being thankful for all He has done for us, we will receive what Jesus spoke of and be filled with living waters.

Father God, open my eyes to see the ways I can be even more transparent with You so I can come into a deeper place of knowing You. I want to find my identity in You and experience Your love.
