RENEWED LIKE THE EAGLE

Share this:

Bless the Lord, O my soul…who satisfies your years with good things, so that your youth is renewed like the eagle.
—Psalm 103:2, 5

I have a friend who is in her nineties and has known the Lord for more than fifty years. Every time I see her, it is like she just got saved. She always has a new joy or a fresh revelation. Although her hair is gray and she can hardly walk, she glows with a supernatural peace and youthfulness. When I see her, I feel I am witnessing the reality of God’s Word in today’s verse—Elohim will be the portion of those who put their trust in Him, renewing their youth even when their hairs are gray.

You may be getting older and experiencing new aches and pains and thinking, “My youth is not being renewed like the eagle,” as David said. I understand, but listen, the Scripture says: “Though our outer man is decaying, yet our inner man is being renewed day by day.” We are not our hair, body, face, or even our vital organs. Who we truly are is who we are inside.

Beloved one, I have my hopes set on this: if we will seek God first, our later years will be our best years in the Spirit. The power of God will dwell more deeply in us and become stronger upon us. And even though our outer man is decaying, our inner man will rise up with the strength of an eagle.
