“He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.”
— Revelation 2:29
Although Father God fundamentally has spoken to us through His written Word, He can also speak through our circumstances. This is why we should always pay attention.
I have a friend who was reading from the Book of Isaiah, and Isaiah 40:31 just popped out at him: “Those who wait for the Lord will gain new strength; they will mount up with wings like eagles.” When he read that verse, he felt the Lord wanted him to share it with me but wasn’t completely sure it was the Lord leading him.
Suddenly, a woman whose last name was Schneider walked into the room where he was, wearing a T-shirt with an eagle on it! He knew what to do. He called and told me about the scripture. I was encouraged by it, but I didn’t know what was personal about it for me since it is a very well-known verse.
A few days later I looked out my window and saw a real, live bald eagle sitting on a tree stump in my backyard! I’d never seen one that close, and it blew me away. I knew God was encouraging me to be patient in hope and expectation of what He was about to do in my life.
Beloved one, I hope this encourages us all to know that God is at work in the circumstances of our lives as we seek Him. Let’s all be paying attention.
