Newness of Life

Share this:

“Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.”
—2 Corinthians 5:17

Are you constantly being changed? As new creations in the Lord, we are continually being renewed and transformed day by day. Old things are passing away. We’re not the same people today that we were ten or even five years ago. Why? Because we’re being changed from the inside out.

Now, you might say, “Well, yeah, everyone changes in five years.” But I’m not talking about changes in one’s physical appearance, personal life, or career. The kind of change I’m talking about results from the very zōē life of God—the literal Spirit of the eternal God—living continually inside us. Because He’s always new, you and I are being changed into new creations.

Again, this process of being changed into a new creation is something that is not static. It’s not that we suddenly change from one thing to another and then stay that way forever. Rather, because God is alive and is always causing newness of life to bubble up in us, we as new creations are unceasingly being changed, like a flower that constantly blooms new petals. God is making us more and more like Him each day. He’s taking us from glory to glory (2 Cor. 3:18) so we fulfill the destiny He mapped out for us when He wrote our names in the Lamb’s Book of Life (Rev. 21:27).

My friend, you are much more than you know. You are supernatural. There is a seed inside you that is perpetually sprouting newness of life. Say yes to God. Surrender to His will and His ways so the seed of eternal life that He has placed in you can be given expression in and through you.

Father God, I don’t want my life to be static. I long to be continually changing to become more like You, to reflect Your character and be conformed to Your image. Lord, I want to become the person You purposed me to be and fulfill the destiny You mapped out for me. Father, Your Word says You have ordained days for me and that they are written in Your book (Ps. 139:16). Help me to maintain a posture of surrender so You can change me from the inside out. Dad, I want to fully become who You have ordained me to be.
