“As for me, I know that my Redeemer lives, and at the last He will take His stand on the earth.”
— Job 19:25
The Bible ends in the Book of Revelation with Jesus materializing in the sky and God manifesting His glory to the whole world. God Himself is going to take His stand on the earth. It is illogical to think the God who created this world is going to let it go on forever without breaking in and putting things in order. This is where it’s all going.
The Bible tells us in the Book of Revelation that time is running short and that the heightened spiritual war- fare we are experiencing on earth right now is going to intensify. When the battle between light and darkness reaches a climax, God Himself is going to come in and dispel the darkness. He is going to put His foot on the ground, beginning at the Mount of Olives, and He Himself will reign on and over the earth.
Now, we can’t fathom how exactly this is going to play out. We don’t know exactly or specifically what it is going to look like. But one thing we can be sure of: God is going to interrupt the present world system. He is going to break the powers of darkness. He is going to step into this world and into the culture. He is going to cleanse it, and He Himself is going to reign on this earth that He created for His own glory.
Beloved, it’s going to happen, and it’s going to happen soon. Jesus said if we serve Him now, we are going to have a place of authority with Him when He reigns on the earth. This may seem far off, but Jesus will reign sooner than any of us think. So live today for the soon return of King Jesus. Jesus’ last words were, “Yes, I am coming quickly” (Rev. 22:20).
Father God, I declare like Job that I know my Redeemer lives and at the last You will take Your stand on the earth. Help me to live with an awareness of Your soon return.
