Going Home

Share this:

Sometimes it is easy to get caught up in the day-to-day cares of this world. We can become distracted by many things: like our jobs, other people and just life in general. But we must cast-off all the temporary “stuff” we face, because my brother and sister – one day soon we are going to leave this place!

Are you homesick?

“For here we do not have a lasting city, but we are seeking the city which is to come” (Hebrews 13:14).

Consider, Jesus’ words as He stood before Pilate (John 18:36), “My kingdom is not of this world.” Likewise beloved, our kingdom is not of this world. You and I are not defined or confined by this planet. We are aliens and strangers here (1 Peter 2:11). We should be just like Abraham: “For he was looking for the city which has foundations, whose architect and builder is God” (Hebrews 11:10).

Are you looking with excitement?

We should not be passively waiting on His return. No, we should be actively and continually calling upon Him to return! Peter instructed the church to look for and hasten the coming day of the Lord (2 Peter). Scripture says in Revelation 22:17: “The Spirit and the bride say, ‘Come.’”

My friend, you and I are the bride. Together with the Spirit we say, “Come.” The church is to be overtly involved in bringing Jesus back. We should be longing for His return and calling upon Him to come. This will be the atmosphere in the church when lightning flashes from the east to the west at Yeshua’s return when the glory of God covers the earth. The church cannot be asleep. We need to be waiting like the wise virgins that kept their oil burning!

Are you ready?

Soon, the kingdom of God and the kingdom of the world will collide. The new Jerusalem will come down from heaven and hit planet earth—they will merge together. The two will become one. And at that time, there will be only one King, and His reign will be one of joy, peace and wellbeing for all.

Think of it: no more struggles and no more tears. Life is truly only a moment; the journey is like but a day. Its stains and cracks will long be forgotten. Replaced with an unending stream of happiness.

Begin to picture the celebration that awaits each one of us and embrace your dream of dreams becoming a reality!

My brother and sister, He is on His way—come Lord Jesus, come.

“Behold, I am coming like a thief. Blessed is the one who stays awake” (Revelation 16:15).

Love & Shalom,
Rabbi
