“Do not call to mind the former things, or ponder things of the past. Behold, I will do something new, now it will spring forth; will you not be aware of it? I will even make a roadway in the wilderness, rivers in the desert.”
— Isaiah 43:18–19
God is always doing a new thing. Only dead things don’t change. Anything that is alive is constantly changing.
We need to always be looking for the new thing because the Spirit of God lives in us. The Ruach HaKodesh, which can be translated to mean the holy breath, or wind of God, is always fresh and is in continuous motion. His movement is never mechanical; the Spirit of God is constantly bubbling up from within us and bringing new life.
This is why when you abide in Jesus, when you abide in the vine, you can expect new things to manifest in and around your life. You can expect to experience new dimensions of God’s presence and fresh emanations of His Spirit. God is creative, and He can do things beyond anything you and I can ask or think.
So I want to encourage you to never stop expecting God to do something new, even until your last days on this earth. Keep believing that God has something new for you. And when He brings the new thing, embrace it. Second Corinthians 3:18 declares that we “are being transformed…from glory to glory.” Change is part of growing in God. So even if it is uncomfortable or unfamiliar, always stay open to the new.
Father God, I thank You for doing a new thing in my life. You are the Creator, and You are continually creating something brand-new in me. Raise my expectations, Father, that You will bring new life, new songs, new creativity, new dreams and visions. May I never fear change but always embrace the new thing You are doing in my life.
