“Rabbi, My name is Brandon from Wisconsin. I am a follower of Christ, but I do not belong to any specific denomination. I was baptized in the Catholic Church at 17 because I felt called to ‘come and see,’ but I quickly realized I wasn’t Catholic. However, I knew Jesus was the Truth, and I have held onto Scripture ever since. I mostly study alone because I haven’t found a church or community I can identify with. Recently, I discovered through a DNA test that I am Ashkenazi Jewish. While it is a small percentage, my first thought was of God’s promise that a remnant of His people would always remain. I originally took the test because my late grandmother, who was a Jehovah’s Witness, believed she was part of the 144,000. My mother didn’t want us to be Jewish, but I felt I needed to know the truth. When the results came back, I felt an immediate connection to my Jewish heritage. Rabbi, I lack direction, discipline, and community. I have a fair amount of knowledge regarding both the Old and New Testaments, yet I still feel lost. When I discovered your work and saw that one could be Jewish and love Jesus Christ, it changed everything for me. I’ve always believed that Jesus is the ultimate fulfillment of Judaism, even when others disagreed. I don’t know what the path forward looks like, but I want to return to Christ this year.”
