Divine Satisfaction

Share this:

“All things are wearisome; man is not able to tell it. The eye is not satisfied with seeing, nor is the ear filled with hearing.”
— Ecclesiastes 1:8

The things of the world can never fully satisfy. Now, I know that when we were young and we experienced things for the first time in life, that did feel satisfying, didn’t it? I remember as a young person experiencing so many things for the first time and thinking life was such an adventure. The thing is, as we get older, those things are no longer new, and when the newness wears off, we find that the eye is not satisfied because it has already seen so much. The ear is not satisfied because it has already heard so much. The only place we find satisfaction that will increase and endure is in God.

Finding satisfaction is what the whole Book of Ecclesiastes is about. The story of Ecclesiastes is that the king went on a journey to satisfy himself, and he went after everything the world had to offer. He went after wealth, after fame, after wisdom, after sexual relationships, hoping those things would satisfy him. But after all of his pursuits he found that none of them filled him up. He realized he was still empty.

I hope you have come to a place in your life where you realize that there really is nothing worth living for other than God Himself. Seek ye first the kingdom of God, beloved ones, and God will bring divine satisfaction and stability into your life. I challenge you today to ask yourself what you need to do to put the pursuit of God first in your life. Remember, God is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him (Heb. 11:6). He is waiting for you to seek satisfaction in Him, “the fountain of living waters” (Jer. 2:13). Jesus said, “But whoever drinks of the water that I will give him shall never thirst; but the water that I will give him will become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life” (John 4:14).

Father God, I commit to putting my pur- suit of You above all other pursuits because nothing and no one else can truly satisfy. As Psalm 107:9 declares, You fill the hungry soul with good things. I choose to be satisfied with You.
