My soul will make its boast in the Lord; the humble will hear it and rejoice.
—Psalm 34:2
David’s confidence in the Lord was apparent to all. The mighty king of Israel wanted everyone to know about God’s glory and his love for Yahweh. When we have the right spirit, it is good to boast in the Lord because others will see our conviction in Him and receive hope.
Sometimes we are so concerned about being humble that we don’t convey the assurance we have in God, and the enemy uses this against us. At times, because we are afraid of being proud, we don’t receive the certainty from the Lord that He wants us to have.
David said, “The humble will hear it and rejoice”! Why would the humble rejoice when David boasts in the Lord? It’s because they were empowered by David’s conviction. By boasting in the Lord, David radiated a light that lifted others and inspired them to trust God for themselves. Our surety can give others hope that they can be confident too.
Beloved one, if you know people who are oppressed or beaten up by life, when you humbly declare your confidence in the Lord, you minister confidence in the love of Yeshua to them. And your positivity can change their lives. So let us be like David and make our boast in the Lord. May the humble hear of our love for Messiah Jesus and as a result find hope for their own lives.
