“For as he thinks within himself, so he is.” — Proverbs 23:7
Have you ever thought about this: you could be standing in a room with seven other people, yet each one is living in a completely different world. Why? Because every person perceives life through the lens of their thoughts. Our minds truly shape our reality.
That’s why we have to continually take control of our “earthly” thoughts. This requires active spiritual awareness and discipline.
Paul reminds us: “We are destroying speculations and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ.” 2 Corinthians 10:5
In order to do this we must believe and be fully convinced that God is good, He loves us and is absolutely sovereign. We must know, believe, and trust that He is for us. Without that conviction, the darkness that surrounds us will overwhelm us—for we live in a world polluted by evil. The conflict is real.
“We know that we are of God, and that the whole world lies in the power of the evil one” (1 John 5:19).
Paul wrote that Satan is “the god of this world”
(2 Corinthians 4:4) but the One true God – our God, is still on the throne.
And just like Job, we must be confident that Satan can only have access by God’s permission. Our security rests in the Father’s love—nothing can touch us apart from His will.
“And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love Him, to those who are called according to His purpose” (Romans 8:28).
Every trial we face is used by the Father to mold us into the likeness of His Son. Whatever the challenge, we can rejoice knowing He is accomplishing His good purposes through it. Like Paul who was being tormented by “a messenger of Satan” yet transformed and empowered as a result, so too, God is causing all things to work together for good in the lives of His chosen ones (see 2 Corinthians 12).
“Consider it all joy, my brothers and sisters, when you encounter various trials… so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing” (James 1:2–4).
Trials refine us like gold. Through steadfast faith, we become strong, joyful, and victorious. We are purified.
Let’s pray for the Lord to renew our minds. Each day brings new moments that test our alignment with Him. When thoughts of fear or worry arise, let’s turn to God and say: “Father, help me to find You in this. Show me what You want to teach me right now and strengthen me. Conform me into the image of your Son (Romans 8:29).”
Lets think God thoughts!
