For just as the sufferings of Christ are ours in abundance, so also our comfort is abundant through Christ.
—2 Corinthians 1:5
There’s no way around it: being a disciple of Jesus involves suffering. “Indeed,” Paul wrote, “all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.” We will face hardship, heartache, and hurt because of our faith in Yeshua. So we need to put on the armor of a soldier and set our faith and teeth toward the wind, recognizing that we’re going to take a few hits. This is part of what it means to follow Jesus.
Notice, however, that today’s verse goes on to say that our comfort also is abundant through Christ Jesus. In other words, when we’re following Messiah Jesus, we’re going to face situations that cause us tremendous grief. But in the midst of the pain, God is going to bless us, and we will receive a supernatural impartation of comfort through the ministry of the Ruach HaKodesh.
Beloved one, be confident that whatever trial, persecution, or difficulty you might encounter from now until the end of your life on earth, you’re never alone. God loves you and me with an eternal love, and He’s always watching over us. Night and day, He’s continuously shepherding our souls.
As you follow Him, Father God will make Himself known to you, and you will experience His comfort even through the hardships you will walk through in life.
